Estoy seguro que muchas veces te has preguntado por la falta de películas o de videos y material audiovisual de alta calidad relacionado con el mundo de los autos. Hay producciones reconocidas, que pueden ir desde algún spot publicitario que saltó a la fama en el Super Bowl, alguno de los episodios de The Grand Tour, películas como Gran Turismo y algún video viral de alta calidad que haya dado vuelta las redes sociales. Incluso, alguna persecución en alguna película taquillera.
Bueno, la verdad es que esto es solo la punta del iceberg, porque hace 10 años que existen los premios International Motor Film (IMFA), los cuales se encargan de premiar a las mejores obras audiovisuales relacionadas con los autos y en distintas categorías.
Esta premiación fue fundada por dos tremendos realizadores audiovisuales cuyas obras han dado la vuelta al mundo. Tanto así, que probablemente te las hayas topado en más de alguna oportunidad. Me refiero a Vince Knight, Director de Fotografía y Alistair "Al" Clark, Director y Realizador Audiovisual. Ambos le dieron forma a los International Motor Film Awards, pero no están solos, sino que también cuentan con un jurado de excelencia, el que incluye a ganadores del Oscar, de los BAFTA y de los Emmys, así como importantes realizadores y operadores del mundo audiovisual y figuras relevantes del mundo motor como Ben Collins (el primer "Stig"), Vicki Butler-Henderson, el mismísimo Magnus Walker, Andy Wallace, Tiff Needell, entre otras leyendas.
Y por supuesto, la premiación cuenta con el apoyo de la industria, tanto desde el mundo de los autos como también desde el mundo audiovisual.
Los nominados y las categorías
Si te encanta todo lo que tiene que ver con películas y videos del mundo motor, esta es la oportunidad para que te robes la lista y te pongas al día. Son 12 categorías (dos son nuevas), más cuatro categorías técnicas (Mejor Cinematografía, Mejor Sonido, Mejor Edición y Mejor Stunts) y un "Grand Prix" que será anunciado el día de la premiación, que casualmente es mañana 21 de septiembre.
¿Dónde puedes verlas? Difícil... hay algunas que de seguro ya las has visto en plataformas como Prime Video, HBO Max o Netflix. Hay otras que las puedes pillar en el cine y si tienes suerte, también en YouTube. Pero hay otras que solo se han visto en circuitos independientes de cine o en eventos promocionales. Recomiendo ir buscando por título en Google o IMDB.
